There are three premier credit reporting agencies in the United States. They are Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Equifax is the largest of the three credit bureaus. TransUnion is the smallest.

There are many credit reporting agencies in the country. They're function often is to collect, maintain and disseminate consumer credit-related information. The information can be used by a variety of people or businesses and for varying purposes.

Equifax, Experian and TransUnion are premier credit reporting agencies because most creditors and lenders submit their credit histories to one or to all of them. These three premier credit bureaus have active working relationships with many of the financial institutions in the country.
