VantageScore

VantageScore is a type of credit score. The VantageScore rivals the more popular FICO credit score. Each serves as indicators for an individual's creditworthiness. Creditors and lenders use either the VantageScore or the FICO score to assess credit risk in an applicant for credit.

The scoring model behind VantageScore was created by America's three major credit reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. There is a different VantageScore for each agency.

FICO is a scoring model created by the Fair Isaac Corporation. There is an Equifax FICO credit score and TransUnion FICO credit score. Each uses their respective credit bureau's credit report to calculate the credit score. Experian uses its own scoring algorithm.
